It’s the perfect chance to do some retail therapy and escape the world around you. Hold up though, Sis! You need to make sure that you’re shopping with a purpose and not out of impulse. If you want to learn how to do better while shopping, especially for the holidays, check out my tips BELOW for shopping with a PURPOSE.
The PROBLEM With Unintentional Shopping
Ladies, it’s time for us to be honest with ourselves about our shopping habits. The chances are that each time we go shopping, we’re NOT making sound decisions when it comes to what we’re buying and why we bought it in the first place. Our shopping trips should save us time, money, and headaches, NOT cause more ISSUES.
Solutions To The Shopping Dilemma
If you want to become a purposeful shopper, you must have an open mind and a sharp mindset. Here are some tips on getting started, especially for the holidays:
Stick to your shopping lists. We create specific lists for a reason, and it’s time to stick to those lists and follow them to the tee. If you need extra help, then use specialized apps and other features that will help you become a more focused shopper.
Don’t shop without a plan. If you don’t have a plan, you plan to fail! Before heading out to every store to ball out, take the time to plan everything, from the purchases you’ll make to stores you’ll visit.
Be intentional about your purchases. I know that some items may call your name, but you need to discipline yourself when out on your shopping trips. You must keep your eye on the prize!
Create a budget. If you don’t want to break the bank, come up with a shopping budget that’s reasonable and well within your price range.
Be wary of specific sales. They can cause you to buy items that are not useful for your wardrobe. Therefore, you should only focus on those sales related to the items on your list.
BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF, SIS!
Don’t forget to ask yourself these questions while shopping to stay true to your shopping purposes:
Can you afford this item?
Will it add value to your life?
Are you buying off of emotion or for a true purpose?
Is it an investment or a bargain?
